This time, totally spontaneously (as always), we decided to visit Bochum. It's about 30 minutes away from Dortmund and belongs also to the "Ruhrpott" (an urban area in North Rhine-Westphalia). Weather was perfect, like almost everytime we go sightseeing or simply want to be for few hours away from home.
We visited the campus of Ruhr University Bochum (which was established in 1962), to see how does it look like. I heard different opinions. First and foremost - "it's really unpersonal". Hm.. Yeah, there's something in it, but actually it didn't bother me at all! I was spellbound, because of the architecture and the immensity of the campus. Buildings were really huge, so we honestly found it difficult to find ourselves in this maze. Rooms, corridors, lifts - everything was somehow hidden.
The biggest advantage, which was like smashing me into my face was the view. The VIEW. I could sit, enjoy my coffee, the sun, warm wind and of course this beautiful landscape. Forests, fields, grazing animals... It was somehow soothing. I needed it. So we can say like - I was compensated, not sure if students of RUB share my opinion (?).
Then we moved to the city centre and went on a stroll. Shops like everywhere, people hurrying in different directions... And then I bumped into a beautiful church. The Christuskirche, built in the neo-Gothic style. This was the favourite piece found in Bochum, although I have seen "almost nothing! I love gothic architecture. It's somehow creepy, wonderful and... maybe I will end my conclusion about it! Better like that.
xoxo
